Referrals are a mix of capitalism and communitarianism at their best!
I'm just a normal guy who is interested in using my resources in a wise and responsible way. Referrals are really interesting to me on a social level, because they use local and personal networks (and now global impersonal networks) in order to help individuals in the global marketplace find the best offer. It's almost like we're wandering around an open air market 1,000 years ago shouting "this guy's got the best price on camel feed–check him out" but in the twenty-first century via the internet. Referrals are also an impressive demonstration of collective action–the potential of working together!
